As if on a schedule, Saskatoon got its first real snowfall late in the evening on October 31, as we were heading home from a night of trick-or-treating. And while I’m excited about Baby Cormac experiencing his first winter, I’m also worried about him experiencing his first winter colds!
In fact, he’s had a bit of a stuffy nose the last few days and I’ve been carefully watching to see if his congestion gets worse or if he develops a cough or fever. That’s why I’m so grateful to have the Philips Avent Smart Ear Thermometer in the house!
This thermometer is so easy to use, even on a small squirmy baby. Since it accurately records temperature in just two seconds, I only need a moment to see if Cormac is running a fever or doing just fine. I also like that the thermometer provides temperature in either Celsius or Fahrenheit, since I have an easier time remembering normal body temperature in Celsius.
But my favourite feature of the Philips Avent Smart Ear Thermometer is its Bluetooth capability that lets me connect it to the free Philips uGrow app on my phone! Once connected, I’m able to record and track my baby’s temperature to help me monitor his health. (Handy tip, if the thermometer isn’t connecting through the app, try opening the Bluetooth settings on your phone and searching from there.)
I also use the uGrow app for recording other milestones, including my baby’s’ height and weight, his sleep patterns and even the amount of milk I’m pumping at different times of the day. It’s a handy all-in-one app for both tracking and monitoring Cormac’s growth.
Have a new baby in the house? Philips has a fabulous giveaway that you won’t want to miss! One lucky reader is going to win a Philips Avent Natural Essentials prize pack containing two 4oz Natural Bottles, two 9oz Natural Bottles, a microwave sterilizer, two soothing pacifiers and a bottle brush, an $88 value! Please note that this giveaway may appear on other blogs, and that your information is being collected by Philips Avent and not by Mommy Kat and Kids.
While I’m obviously happy to have this thermometer for my new baby, the truth is that it’s just as useful for my other two boys as well. It’s quick and easy to use, and even comes with a handy chart that lets me know the average body temperature for different ages.
If you don’t currently have a thermometer in the house, now is the perfect time to pick up the Philips Avent Smart Ear Thermometer. The quick readings, accuracy and ability to track your baby’s temperature through the app will help you ensure that your little one makes it through the winter feeling his best!

never used a pump
yes, I have used a breast pump with all three of my children. Mostly to just relieve pressure. I have now been nursing since August of 2014 and as of July 2016 I have been nursing two littles.
I unfortunately spent too much on a cheap pump and broke it with my supply.
I did pump when I was breastfeeding and it let my husband feed the baby and bond.
No dont have a pump
Not really, my kids drank straight from the tap.
No I didn’t have a pump
Pour mes petits enfants ❤️

I did, my oldest was a preemie so I had to bring it into the hospital.
