My little preschooler LOVES construction vehicles. He impressed extended family by correctly identifying an excavator this summer, waits for the garbage truck every Monday, and was thrilled when he recently got to take his first tractor ride.
But with temperatures dropping, his favourite vehicles aren’t around quite as much these days. So, Cat® Construction Toys offered to help me bring the fun indoors with its amazing collection of construction vehicles featuring lights, sounds and realistic designs!
We received the Cat® Power Haulers Cement Truck, Tough Machines Dump Truck and Power Mini Crew Wheel Loader to review. Cormac couldn’t wait to check out the dump truck and he especially liked the way that it featured a realistic rumbling movement in addition to its lights and sounds.
The cement truck, on the other hand, boasts a clever motion drive technology. Basically, once kids power on their toy, the vehicle recognizes whether it’s being pushed forward or backwards, and responds with appropriate sounds. A fun hand crank lets kids spin the cement barrel as well!
While Cormac was most excited about his new yellow dump truck, I have to admit that what I liked most was the Power Mini Crew Wheel Loader! It had all the detail of a full-sized construction vehicle, but was compact enough that Cormac could have a whole fleet of them in his room.
Despite the small size, though, each Power Mini Crew vehicle still has the fun lights and construction sounds of the larger vehicles.
These vehicles have been a great way for my preschooler to enjoy some indoor pretend play on days when outdoor fun fall activities for families aren’t an option. I love watching the way he uses them with his blocks and figurines to create his own stories!
If you have a youngster that loves construction, these toys from Cat® are a great gift idea. Check them out at a Walmart near you and find a few to help your child create their own indoor construction fleet!

My grandson, Easton, is 14 months old and already loves trying to figure out how things go together. I think he’d absolutely love this set especially the dump truck!
