6 Reasons You Should Visit California On Your Next Vacation

My family has taken a lot of vacations over the years, and discovered a lot of places to love. And one of the most fun-filled trips we ever took was to beautiful California. When people think of California, places like Hollywood, Silicon Valley and the Napa Valley wine region tend to spring to mind. But […]

Kids Love Learning with the LeapStart Activity Book System-Giveaway

July 26, 2016 by Kathryn 130 Comments

As a parent, there are a few skills that I believe are essential to my boys’ proper development, so I’m passionate about ensuring they’re developing those skills. And in my mind, the absolute most essential skill to ensure a child’s future success is a love of learning. From the earliest baby days to the school years, LeapFrog has used innovative electronics to help kids gain proficiency in a variety of different areas, from math and science to reading and writing. And the brand new LeapStart system is the perfect example of why I’ve always loved the brand. The system uses a library of activity books that let kids have fun while developing STEM skills, problem solving, shape recognition and, of course, literary skills! I recently received the brand new LeapStart to review and Benjamin was only too happy to help me test it out. [Read more…]

My oldest son graduates from Grade One in a few weeks, so stumbling on this picture of me in Grade One today was a bit of a coincidence! I remember my mom being very annoyed that I crashed my bike and scraped my face the day before picture day! (Once she was sure I was okay, that is!)

If you have a Wordless Wednesday post, please link it up below; I’d love to check it out! [Read more…]

Every year the Lumsden Elementary School holds a Heritage Fair and each student creates a project. The Grade One theme was “All About Me.” I just love Zackary’s self portrait hanging over the chair!

Dog Chew Toys: Why You Need Them and What You Should Buy

Most pet owners have, at one point or another, dealt with a dog’s chewing, especially if you recently added a new puppy to your family. While it might seem like destructive behavior, chewing is an essential part of a dog’s teething cycle. Some dogs naturally outgrow their need to chew once their adult teeth come […]

Halloumi Pesto Burger Recipe From Chef’s Plate

It’s no secret I love to cook. The kitchen is my happy place and there’s nothing better to me than experimenting to perfect a new dish, like these Tuna Salad Deviled Eggs. But I also have three boys, which means I usually have limited time to research and come up with new meal ideas. That’s […]
