New Monsters University Kinder Surprise Eggs are Monstrous Fun #KinderMom

July 29, 2013 by Kathryn 12 Comments

Raising two boys means that we have lots of monster moments in our household. Zackary and Benjamin are full of energy and spend a good part of the day charging around the house, to the point where sometimes I think having a pair of monsters might be more peaceful!

But as much as they tire me out, I love my monster-rific boys and their wild ways, so I was pretty excited when we got a chance to get in a monster mood recently with the brand new Monsters University Kinder Surprise eggs! We received a whole case of the eggs to enjoy and my boys couldn’t have been happier about it.

One of the things I especially loved about these new eggs is that every single one had a Monsters University themed toy inside. From fun hologram cards featuring Sully and Mike to twelve collectible figurines, kids get a 100% chance of monstrous fun with these new eggs!

What Makes Your Child Unique? Kinder Canada Wants to Know! #KinderMom

June 14, 2013 by Kathryn 2 Comments

It always amazes me how my two boys, raised in the same house with the same parents and the same rules and privileges, can be so very different in so many ways. But it can be hard, with my boys, to encourage their different personalities sometimes. Benjamin, like so many little brothers, idolizes Zackary and that means he wants to do everything his big brother does. Zackary loves LEGO, so Benjamin wants to play with LEGO. Zackary’s favourite cartoon is Sonic Underground, so Benjamin watches Sonic Underground. I know it’s only natural that my sweet three-year-old wants to be like his big brother, but I want him to be himself too!

So lately, Benjamin and I have been playing a game that Zackary and I used to play years ago. I call it The Question Game and it’s really just a silly way to both learn more about my son and encourage him to think for himself. I ask a simple question such as, “What is your favourite colour?” or “What do you like to eat best of anything in the world?” and then Benjamin and I both share our answers. I love learning more about my son using this game, but I also find that when we play together this way, he’s more likely to keep those things he loves in his mind and talk about them later. Easter Traditions are Even More Fun and Meaningful with Kinder Canada

March 12, 2013 by Kathryn 9 Comments

Even though Saskatchewan is still icy cold and covered in snow, Easter is just a few weeks away! While the Easter Bunny may be hiding goodies inside the house instead of outside this year, I know that won’t diminish my boys’ enjoyment of the holiday!

We have a few special traditions each year for Easter. The first and most important is decorating Easter eggs. The boys and I all love hardboiled eggs so we’ll often decorate an entire dozen just for fun. And while the boys tend to stick to classic crayon-decorated eggs dipped in dye, I love experimenting with different decorating techniques. These Marbled Easter Eggs were easy to make and looked so pretty on Easter morning!

Celebrate the New Hot Wheels and Barbie Kinder Surprise with a Special Facebook Giveaway #KinderMom

January 17, 2013 by Kathryn 6 Comments

When my oldest son was born, one of the first things he learned to do as he grew from an infant to a toddler was make the “vroom” noise of a car. At ten months old, Zackary couldn’t say “Momma,” but he could push around the Hot Wheels Twin Mill car that Santa had put in his stocking that year yelling “VROOOM! VROOM!” as he did. And so began my son’s love of cars, a love that he still has six years later.

At two years old, Zackary’s collection of Hot Wheels had grown to over 100 cars and not only could he tell interested parties the name of every single one, he could also tell people how the car had joined his collection. I have to admit, I didn’t even really know Hot Wheels cars had names until my son first asked me “What’s this one called?” and I turned it over to discover the tiny writing on the bottom.

Join the Kinder Canada A Joy to Share Campaign and Spread the Joy this Christmas #KinderMom

December 5, 2012 by Kathryn 5 Comments

It’s the season of giving and while I’m having a great time finding gifts to surprise my boys with on Christmas morning, I’m also trying to make sure that I think about ways to give back to my community and to those in need during the holidays. There are so many worthy causes but I have a few that are near and dear to my heart and when December arrives, I always make sure that I’m showing my support to them.

kinder canada a joy to shareKinder Canada believes in giving back to those in need as well and that’s why the company is kicking off the holidays with the A Joy to Share campaign! Kinder Canada is sharing the story of the Martin family this holiday season and for every time the video is shared on Facebook, Kinder Canada will donate one dollar to the Children’s Miracle Network of Canada, up to a maximum of $5000! A simple share can spread a lot of joy to a sick child this Christmas! [Read more…]
