Help Your Family Enjoy an Organized School Year with 4 Simple Tips

August 11, 2017 by Kathryn 26 Comments

Disclosure: I have partnered with YMC and Mabel’s Labels/ Bear Paws and have received compensation for this post. All opinions in the post are my own.

The new school year is almost here and that means it’s time for me to stock up on my must-haves for keeping my house and my boys organized throughout the coming months. For the first time, Zackary and Benjamin won’t be going to the same school, which means that ensuring their supplies and homework are in order will be more important than ever before.

If your child walks out the door with it, make sure that you’ve labelled it! From ski pants to water bottles, I’m often amazed (and annoyed) by the items my boys have misplaced over the years. Near the end of last school year, Zackary even managed to lose his prescription glasses! [Read more…]

Last year I splurged on a Brother multifunction laser printer for my home office and I am so glad that I did. It has been a great investment for my website and made life so much easier. With a built-in scanner and lightning fast printing, it’s such an easy way to stay organized. Whether I’m printing and scanning a letter of agreement for an upcoming campaign or just printing off a few colouring pages for my boys, my Brother 3-in-1 laser printer is ready to get the job done.

It’s Time to Organize for Good with Help from Secrets of an Organized Mom by Barbara Reich

April 17, 2013 by Kathryn Leave a Comment

I’ve mentioned in the past just how much I love cleaning. To be terribly blunt, I don’t. I work hard at keeping our house in a reasonably organized state, but I struggle. Of course, the fact that I often get new products to review can make organization even more difficult and I find that I end up going through phases in which I spend days in a row cleaning and organizing the household only to find it descending into disorganization a month later.

secrets of an organized mom barbara reichI needed a plan. I needed a way to keep my house organized once I’d taken the first steps. But I had no idea how to make that goal a reality. Then Barbara Reich came to my rescue with her new book Secrets of an Organized Mom. Barbara shared her knowledge recently with a great guest post about spring-cleaning here on Mommy Kat and Kids and I couldn’t wait to see what kind of information her book might have for me.

The first thing that appealed to me about Secrets of an Organized Mom was the simplicity of Barbara’s organizing method. The road to organization, says Barbara, can be summed up in four words: purge, design, organize and maintain.
