Make Bottle-Feeding Simple with the Playtex SmartSteam 3-in-1 Microwave Sterilizer-Giveaway

Bottle-feeding my baby is not my first choice, but for a lot of women it may be their only option or a necessary compliment to breastfeeding at times.  In any case, every mother wants to know that her bottles and sterilization methods are going to be safe for her baby.  As a working mother I know that my newborn baby will need to be fed by bottle when I am not there and I want to have the peace of mind that my absence is not going to compromise her health.  For these reasons I was pleased with the opportunity to try out a set of bottles and the new SmartSteam Microwave Sterilizer courtesy of Playtex.

I didn’t give much thought to the world of baby bottles with my past two children and generally just chose the cutest looking ones on the shelf.  Then along came worries about BPA which suddenly meant I had to critically evaluate my choices from a totally different perspective.  Thankfully, Playtex makes choosing a safe bottle simple by ensuring all it bottles are BPA-free. The company sent me two different types of bottles, the Nurser with drop in liners and the Ventaire, to test.

You Could Be a Playtex Mommyville Mom of the Month

I really found that after I became a mother, my focus was on myself a lot less and on my children a lot more. They were the centre of my universe and no matter what I was doing, they were always in the back of my mind. That all-encompassing concern for a child is all part of the wonderful experience of being a parent, but too often us moms don’t really receive recognition for the many things we do for our children.

That’s why Playtex Mommyville introduced the Mom of the Month (MOM) program. Over the next year, Playtex Mommyville will feature one deserving mom each month on its Facebook page and share her wisdom with other mothers!

Playtex Mealtime Bowls Make Eating More Fun for Kids-Giveaway

For the last year, I’ve been sharing information about all my very favourite Playtex products as part of my role as a Playtex Mommyville Featured Expert. From the much-beloved Diaper Genie Elite (have you entered to win one yet?) to the handy Twist ‘n Click Snacker for mess-free snacking on the road, there are just so many Playtex products that are essentials in our household.

playtex mealtime bowlsOne of our very favourite Playtex lines is the Playtex Mealtime tableware and the bowls we received to review recently were no exception. My boys love their Playtex Mealtime plates and cutlery so they were very excited to use their new matching bowls!

We received a set of three Playtex Mealtime Bowls to review. As usual, Zackary claimed the bowl featuring a car and Benjamin wanted the bowl with a cheery dinosaur. The very next morning, both boys insisted on using the bowls for their breakfast cereal.

The boys found the design of the bowls appealing but for me, the big highlight of these bowls was the non-slip grip on the bottom. I like this feature on the plates as well but it’s even more necessary with bowls since my boys tend to tip them over a little more easily and since a spilled bowl usually results in a bigger mess than a spilled plate. Little Kids Can Feel Big with the Playtex Coolster Tumbler Cup-Giveaway

It feels like my babies are becoming big boys in the blink of an eye. The days of bottles and diapers are over and we’re moving into the days of packed lunches and extra-curricular activities instead. But even for my big boys, Playtex Mommyville has products that make life fun for them and easier for me.

playtex coolster tumbler cupOne of my personal favourites of the products that are appropriate for toddlers and playschool-aged children is the Playtex Coolster Tumbler Cup. This cup is something that any mom with a spill-happy child will enjoy: an insulated travel cup that features a grown-up tip-and-drink lid that’s also spill-proof! We received one of the cups to review and I could see at a glance that it would be perfect for those days when Zackary wanted to take a drink on a car ride.

With a shape that’s reminiscent of an adult travel coffee mug, this cup is designed for the big kid that wants to act like a grown-up, but still occasionally falls victim to sudden clumsiness. Zackary loved it at first glance and immediately made it his own by sticking one of his personal vinyl labels on the side.

While he liked being able to sip out of the spoutless cup like an adult, I appreciated the fact that when the cup was inevitably knocked on the floor of the vehicle, not one drop of liquid was lost. And the cup was the perfect size for Zackary’s small hands to grasp too! [Read more...]

Little Kids Can Feel Big When They Eat with Playtex Mealtime Toddler Utensils-Giveaway

Benjamin prides himself on being a big boy but when it comes to mealtime, that can cause problems since he wants to use the same dishware, cutlery and cups as everyone else. And as hard as he tries, our standard plates, forks and glasses are just too big and unwieldy for his little mouth. Fortunately, Playtex Mommyville came to the rescue by sending me a set of the Playtex Mealtime Toddler Utensils to review. I had high hopes that this cute toddler-sized cutlery would satisfy my son’s need for independence and still let him eat with ease.

playtex mealtime toddler utensilsThe Playtex Toddler Utensils are designed so that they are the right size for little hands but still nice and sturdy like adult cutlery. Benjamin loved the fat blue handles of his special fork and spoon and I was happy to see that he seemed to find the cutlery an acceptable choice for a “big boy.”

At our next meal, I served Benjamin his dinner with his new fork and spoon. I liked the safety features of the fork; it had rounded ends so that my independent eater wouldn’t accidentally poke himself and because the ends of the cutlery were still made of stainless steel, he was able to use them confidently just as he had with the large metal cutlery. One of my pet peeves is when children’s cutlery is made of flimsy plastic that makes it hard for a child to scoop up their meal. The Playtex Toddler Utensils didn’t have that problem! [Read more...]

Let Your Kids Eat on the Go with Playtex Twist ‘N Click Bowls and Snacker-Giveaway

playtex twist n click bowlsOne of the biggest challenges in our house has always been eating on the go. My overloaded purse tends to crush anything delicate and my boys tend to spill almost anything I give them. It’s a recipe for disaster when we’re snacking outside of the house.

Fortunately, Playtex has recently introduced some great new products to help make transporting meals and snacks on the go a little easier. I recently received the new Playtex Twist ‘N Click Bowls and Playtex Twist ‘N Click Snacker for myself and I couldn’t wait to see how they worked. [Read more...]

Make Your Toddler’s Mealtime Less Messy with Playtex Mealtime Plates-Giveaway

When Benjamin was first starting to eat at the table with the family, I ran into one of the biggest pitfalls of the independent younger child. While Benjamin wanted to sit up and eat just like his big brother, he didn’t quite have the dexterity to do so very neatly quite yet. And that meant two things. A lot of food ended up spilled on the table. And a lot of plates ended up tipped onto the floor.

playtex mealtime plates in packagePlaytex understands how that fiercely independent little toddler feels, but they also want to make sure that a child learning to eat on his own doesn’t mean hours of extra cleaning for Mom! That’s why they created products like the Playtex Mealtime Plates and as a Playtex Mommyville Featured Expert, I got to review a set of plates recently and see if they improved our mealtime messes.
