I love to cook, but there are days when I just don’t have the time to plan and prepare a complete meal from scratch. I want the food that I serve my family to be delicious and nutritious, but there are times when I need it to be convenient as well. So when I was offered the chance to review some of the wonderful frozen fish and seafood meal options from Blue Water Seafoods, I couldn’t wait to get started!
The first product I reviewed was the brand new Blue Water Multigrain Tilapia. The first thing that I noticed was the fantastic resealable bag. In the past, I have struggled with the standard cardboard box that frozen fish is traditionally packaged in. Having used the boxes so much, I tend to not even attempt to close them once I’ve removed the amount I need. I know that the freshness and quality suffers, but I don’t feel that the cardboard box closure properly preserves that quality even when I have secured the small flap. The resealable bag, on the other hand, was quick and easy to open and quick and easy to close. Even better, I knew that the fish was properly packaged to ensure that it would taste great no matter when I cooked it.
I was also impressed by the size of the fillets themselves. The huge pieces of fish were over an inch thick in some places and looked absolutely delicious. I baked them in the oven as directed and served them with salad and rice for supper.
As good as the fish looked, it tasted even better! The thick and meaty tilapia fillets were tender and flaky, and the scrumptious multigrain breading was crisp and flavorful. I loved the combination of barley, wheat and oats that made up the breading, and I loved knowing that my quick and easy meal was also adding extra grains into my family’s diet. My son and husband adored these scrumptious fillets as well and quickly devoured every bite. Supper is Zackary’s least favorite meal of the day, so when I prepare one that he likes, it is certain to become a standard in our household.
We tried the Garlic and Herb natural cut fillets and the Breaded Cod premium fillets as well. Both were absolutely delicious and I was again impressed by the large, fresh tasting portions. My general complaint with frozen fish is that the pieces are too small and too heavily breaded, but this definitely isn’t a complaint I have with the Blue Water frozen seafood products!
I also received an adorable collapsible shopping bag perfect for carrying home all of the delicious fish. This amazing reusable bag folds in on itself so that it can be packed into a small drawstring pouch that is incorporated into the back of the bag. I loved the little caribener clip on the bag. I’m notorious for forgetting my reusable shopping bags, but my Blue Water bag is always with me, clipped to my keychain. I may not bring my purse everywhere I go, but I always have my keys!
Overall, I was very impressed by the high quality of the Blue Water frozen fish products. I love fish in any form, but frozen fillets are generally chosen for their convenience, not their great taste. Thankfully, Blue Water offers a host of choices that prove that an easy meal can be a delicious one as well. To save time without sacrificing taste, try one of the great varieties of Blue Water premium fillets for yourself!
