Holiday Gift for the Hostess
I love to cook, so having great tools in my kitchen is essential. I always keep my eyes out for new kitchen innovations, and when I discover one I usually can’t wait to try it out. When I heard about the innovative Butter Bell crock from L. Tremain, I knew that I had to learn more. The Butter Bell crock is a two-piece crock and lid that keeps butter fresh, accessible and spreadable. The butter dish I was currently using had no lid to protect against dust and the butter often became too soft in the summer, so I was elated when I was given the chance to review a Butter Bell crock for myself.
I chose the Bistro Butter Bell Crock and Spreader Set in White with Blue Trim for review. The crock features a round canister and a lid with a hollow bell-shaped interior. I loved the fact that the base had a small loop to hold the spreader so that I wouldn’t ever have to hunt for a knife. I set the crock on my counter and pulled a stick of butter out of the fridge to soften.
When the butter was soft, I packed it carefully into the hollow portion of the bell shape in the lid. Then, following the instructions, I carefully poured 1/3 of a cup of cold water into the bottom of the Butter Bell and replaced the lid.
The Butter Bell Crock works by creating an airtight seal between the bell and the water in the base that keeps butter cool and fresh while still leaving it ready to spread at any moment. I loved the fact that my butter was finally safe from dust and the Butter Bell did a wonderful job of keeping the butter at the perfect temperature and preserving the flavor.
As directed, I made sure to change the water about every three days to ensure the butter stayed fresh. Most of the time, though, the butter didn’t last that long so I just changed the water whenever I refilled the bell. I quickly discovered that I didn’t have to wait for the butter to soften before packing it into the bell. Instead, I cut the butter into slices and pressed them one by one into the bell with the back of a spoon.
Butter Bell is currently running a great Christmas promotion. Purchase two Butter Bell crocks and you will receive a third crock and a spreader free! Check the website for the full details of the promotion. Offer ends December 15, 2010. A Butter Bell would make a sensational hostess gift and a great gift for a woman that loves to cook as well. And thanks to the fantastic holiday promotion, you can get a Butter Bell crock for a couple of the people on your Christmas list and still have one to enjoy yourself!
I love how stylish the Butter Bell crock looks on my counter and it does a perfect job of keeping my butter fresh. Before the Butter Bell crock, my family was stuck between trying to keep bugs and dust out of the softened butter on the counter and trying to scrape a bit of butter off the rock-hard block in the refrigerator. Thanks to the Butter Bell crock, those days are behind us forever. With an assortment of colors and styles to coordinate with any décor and a design that you will absolutely love, the Butter Bell crock is the perfect addition to any kitchen and a gift a woman is sure to appreciate.
