With Easter just a few days away, it’s a great time for a little family entertainment and Rise of the Guardians is the perfect way to enjoy some Easter fun! The hit movie featuring Jack Frost, Santa Claus and, of course, the Easter Bunny is now available in a special gift set containing two hopping eggs! Here’s a brief synopsis of the movie:
DreamWorks’ newest animated adventure is a fun-filled and magical story about the legendary guardians – Jack Frost, the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and Sandman – together for the first time! When the evil Pitch threatens to take over the world, it’s up to our beloved heroes to protect the hopes and dreams of children everywhere. Filled with non-stop action and laughs, it’s a dazzling family film that’s being hailed as an instant classic.
Zackary was the one that was most excited to watch this movie and from his enthusiasm, I decided that he must have either discussed it with friends or seen some previews that piqued his interest. He soon convinced me that we should put the DVD on immediately and the three of us sat down to watch it together.
The plot follows the adventures of Jack Frost as he questions the reason for his powers and tries to discover his destiny. I have to admit that when we first sat down together, I was working on my laptop as my boys watched the movie. But within the first few minutes, I was caught up in the story. This is very much a coming-of-age story, but it is one with enough adventure and vibrant animation to entertain both children and adults.
The plot was fast-paced and captivated the interest of both my boys. While there were some moments that younger children might find a little frightening, my rambunctious three-year-old had no problem even with some of the darker scenes. Despite the G-rating, I don’t think I’d suggest this movie for most preschool-aged children, but having a big brother has ensured Benjamin’s pretty familiar with concepts like battles and bad guys!
Overall, this was a movie that all three of us enjoyed and that’s not something that happens very often. There was a fun fantasy element that I loved, lots of adventure and excitement for my boys and a great message about the power of imagination. And of course, there was the Easter Bunny too! Rise of the Guardians is available now on Blu-ray, DVD and the limited edition Easter Gift Pack, so grab a copy and enjoy a little Easter entertainment!
