I am a little bit makeup obsessed and love trying new colours and brands of products to keep my look current. But I also have quite finicky skin, so when I choose makeup, it has to be from a brand that offers gentle, natural ingredients that nourish. So when Mia Mariu contacted me to review its line of mineral-based cosmetics made with natural, healthy ingredients, I was pretty excited. I received a Mia Mariu Colours For Your Every Mood set containing the Uniquely You Touch Up Kit, which sounded like it would be ideal for a fresh new look that wouldn’t cause breakouts or skin irritation, and three Hydrating Stick Gloss lip shades. I couldn’t wait to create my perfect look.

The Uniquely You Touch Up Kit is absolute genius. This handy little kit features a sleek mirrored compact with a magnetic lid and contains Magic Satin Powder, Blushing Blush and three eye shadows in the Sexy, Flirty and Savvy shades. I loved the universally flattering Blushing Blush and while the powder looked a little light to me, I hoped that it would blend with my skin once I actually put it on my face.

I decided to touch up my current foundation and then play with the colours in the kit to create a simple, daytime look. I really liked the Magic Satin Powder, which I realized after applying was a very light and natural pressed powder that blended with every skin tone to minimize shine and add a natural glow. I also appreciated the light flush I had after using the blush; it was nice and subtle, but dressed up my look with a little extra polish. The three eye shadow shades were pretty shades but somewhat dark, so I used the light silvery shade for daytime wear and saved the two other shades for creating a more dramatic smoky eye for night.

I loved the Uniquely You Touch Up Kit but it was the Hydrating Stick Gloss that really impressed me. I had expected these shades to be subtle tinted glosses but they are actually rich and creamy lipsticks that add fabulous colour and shine to my mouth. I don’t normally wear lipstick specifically because I find it dries out my lips very easily but these shades really do hydrate. Even after hours of wear, my lips actually felt softer and healthier than they did before I’d applied the gloss. Nourishing colour is definitely the best of both worlds for me!
