Online security is something I take pretty seriously since I spend so much of my time on the Internet. In fact, just last month I shared a few of my top tips for keeping your family safe online. But while I have some great ways to ensure my information is protected online, I didn’t really think about what could happen if my computer is ever lost or stolen.
Now I live in a small town so while I’m at home, the chances of losing my laptop are very slim. But I do take it with me everywhere I go, which means that in the last year alone my laptop has been to Detroit, Chicago, California, Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary. And since I use my laptop for all my online work, losing it wouldn’t just be hugely inconvenient, it could potentially compromise all my online accounts.
Fortunately, this month as part of the Master Lock Live Secure Safety Squad I was given the chance to review the Master Lock 2120DWD Laptop Lock. Since I have a trip out of the country coming up in just days, the timing couldn’t have been better!
It took me a few minutes to figure out how to secure my laptop with the lock. When I read through the instructions and saw that I needed to insert the lock into my device’s lock slot, I was shocked. I have to admit, I hadn’t even known that my device had a lock slot! I found it on the back of my laptop and now that I know it’s there, I’ll have no excuse for not making sure my laptop is secure when I travel!
I love that the combination for this lock is a word rather than being numerical. I have a pretty good head for numbers, but being able to use a word as my combination is still always so much easier for me. Of course, I also take precautions to keep my login information and passwords safe just in case my laptop is ever lost.
