Show Your Cat Some Love with Tips from Arm & Hammer

I was never a cat person until my current pet. In fact, I had no interest in pets whatsoever. But my beloved Siamese cross Racer changed all that within a few weeks of joining our household. Her quirky personality, independence and cuddly nature won my heart and I’ve been a cat person ever since.

As a result, I fully admit that I spoil her a bit. She gets the highest quality cat food I can find, she drinks bottled water instead of tap water and she gets fun new treats and toys almost as often as my boys do. It’s all just part of the way that I show my cat love. Arm & Hammer understands my affection, and the company has some great tips for showing your cat a little extra love too:

  • Love your cat with attention – life is busy these days, and bonding can take many forms, but nothing says “love” like spending time with them.
  • You may not realize it, but litter boxes play a big role in your cat’s happiness and comfort level. Make sure that you have at least one litter box per cat, preferably uncovered and that they are easily accessible. To keep your cat happy, clean the box often and use an odour neutralizing product like Arm & Hammer™ Clump and Seal™ Complete Odour Sealing Clumping Litter. This revolutionary new cat Litter first seals, and then destroys odours for a 7- day odour free home, guaranteed! Just remember to remove clumps & solid waste daily to keep the rest of the litter box fresh.
  • Play – Sometimes it can seem like all they do is sleep, but cats get bored too. Give your cat something to do by making sure their environment is stimulating and engaging them in active play with toys. Sometimes, love can be found on the end of a string attached to a stick.
  • Treats – once considered the sole domain of canines, cats love a tasty nibble. Some pet parents even bake their own – extra love points if they are heart-shaped! Just make sure not to overindulge your kitty’s appetite.

I also received the new Arm & Hammer Clump and Seal Complete Odour Sealing Clumping Litter to test out myself and since dealing with the cat litter is obviously my least-favourite job when it comes to pet ownership, I was more than willing to see how it compared to the variety I was currently using.

This litter features exclusive technology that seals and destroys odours and I was absolutely amazed by how well it worked. While the litter promises a seven-day odour-free home, I actually have always noticed the worst smell right after Racer uses her litter box. This litter eliminated the smell almost immediately and the litter stayed odour-free for days. It was so nice not having to deal with the smell anymore!

Cleaning cat litter is a pain, but it’s a small price to pay for all the joy and amusement that Racer adds to my life. And having a variety of litter that seals away the unpleasant smell makes the job all the easier so that I can spend less time with the chore of keeping the litter box smelling fresh and more time playing with my pet. Now that’s a good deal for both of us!

At the end of the day, spending time with your pets is the best way to show them you love them. For more ideas on how you can give your pet some TLC, check out this blog post from Bivvy.

  1. When my 12 year old cat was a kitten, he climbed to the top of our Christmas tree and it was so cute and funny, every Christmas our family refers to him as our Christmas angel.

  2. I have three kitties and they all have different personalities. First there is is Durn and he is my oldest cat. That is him in the pic if it shows up on the profile. I also have the same pic on our bankcard. My husband *claims* that he gets weird looks about the card if I am not with him. Anyways. Durn is my sidekick, he follows me around. He is very vocal. He loves to eat vegetables. He hates the dog and will on occasion smack her for no reason. However, Sorcha does sometimes step on him. But he has always hated the dog. Then there is my Kimmie. She has agoraphobia. She doesn’t like to come out of our bedroom because the other two kitties are mean to her. She “calls to me” when I am not in there to come in there with her. She hates the dog more than Durn and the dog has never done anything to her. Then there is Little Bit. She is mean to all of the animals except the dog including our rabbit Spaz and she is the sweetest bunny ever. She loves Sorcha. She is wigged out all of the time by random things and is even more vocal than Durn. She likes to climb up door jams and play with bottle caps.

My cat Tika is like a petulant teenager. If she is scolded, she will walk away and start looking for something of my boyfriends (a book, glass case, pen) and she will give us the death stare and then swipe it off whatever surface its on. Then walk away. Won’t play with it, won’t bat it around. Just walks away lol

  4. My cats are awesome. They are a mother and son duo. The baby, Tigger thinks he’s a dog. he fetches, comes when he is called, likes to get his belly rubbed and sleeps on your feet :)
