I have incredibly soft skin and it’s something that I want to maintain for as long as possible. So I’m quite proactive about making sure that my skin stays healthy and moisturized. Unfortunately, living in Saskatchewan and dealing with its harsh winter weather, that can be difficult to do! This winter was an especially hard one, but it’s finally come to a close and now that it has, I want to step up my beauty routine and ensure that I’m ready to bare a little skin this summer!
Healthy skin is something that I achieve in two simple steps: exfoliating and moisturizing. For exfoliation, I often make my own body scrub using kosher salt or sea salt, olive oil and essential oil. It works great and leaves my skin so smooth. And best of all, it takes just minutes to make!
Easy Homemade Body Scrub
- 1/2 cup Kosher salt or sea salt
- 2-3 tbsp. olive oil
- 2-3 drops essential oil, such as lavender
- Combine all ingredients in small bowl until well mixed.
- Rub scrub gently over body while bathing to smooth and moisturize skin.
But for moisturizing, I tend to have a harder time finding a product that I really love. Part of the problem is that my skin tends to be quite sensitive, so I need a lotion that’s both effective and gentle. So when #CollectiveBias challenged me to refresh my spring beauty routine by adding Eucerin products to my current regime, I was thrilled. I’ve heard of the dermatologist-recommended line in the past but I’d never used it before. I headed to my nearest Walmart to choose a new body lotion that I could use to get rid of the dryness caused by winter and have my skin looking and feeling its best again.
I found the lotion in the pharmacy section of the store. The selection was impressive and it took me a bit of time to decide which product I wanted. I eventually decided on the Complete Repair Moisturizing Lotion. It sounded like it would provide the intense moisturizing I wanted without being too heavy on my skin. Eucerin products are fragrance-free and dermatologically tested, so they are perfect for sensitive skin. I used the lotion after my morning shower and it absorbed quickly into my skin leaving it feeling soft and smooth.
Sometimes the best beauty routines are the simplest and when it comes to getting soft, summer-ready skin, that’s certainly true! With nothing more than a homemade scrub and my new Eucerin Complete Repair Moisturizing Lotion, my skin is going to be nourished, moisturized and ready to bare. And I love how effective it is on rough spots like my elbows! If you want to step up your beauty routine for the summer, it doesn’t need to be a complicated process. Whip up a homemade scrub, pick out the Eucerin lotion that’s right for you and see what a difference it makes to your skin!

I hate the scrubs I bought in the past and skipped back to just using loofas and scrub pads. I have also turned away from body washes as well as they never seem to moisturize and don’t impress me. Next winter, I’ll be making my own.
