My oldest son has always been a scientist at heart. From his love of documentaries to his fascination with volcanoes and crystals, he has a spirit of curiosity and a love of learning that drive him to understand the world around him. Spring is the perfect time to bring out the inner scientist in any child, and this spring, NCircle Entertainment has some fabulous new DVD choices to help your little ones learn about space, light, and ocean creatures!
The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!: Space is the Place
Join the Cat in the Hat on a trip into space, and learn why the cosmos is such a cool place! In this new DVD, the Cat and his friends visit each of the planets, the sun and the stars. Young viewers can learn why day turns to night thanks to our friend, the sun.
Sid the Science Kid: What is a Rainbow?
After a rainstorm, the sun comes out and Sid spots a big rainbow in the sky. He races inside to tell his parents, but by the time he brings them outside to see it, the rainbow is gone. Sid and his friends investigate rainbows at school where they discover that rainbows can only form when light passes through water droplets. Themes explored include: Where does light come from? How are shadows made? How are rainbows created? What causes darkness?
Octonauts: To the Gup-X!
This DVD includes the following exciting adventures: Captain Barnacles leads a mission to rescue Dashi, who is trapped inside a giant whale shark; Kwazii takes to the skies to retrieve a precious book from a school of flying fish; Peso tries to bandage a Great White Shark without becoming his lunch – and much more! Plus, in a special extra feature, Tweak & Tunip tell you everything you ever wanted to know about the Gup-X!
Benjamin is a big fan of Octonauts and loved watching the new episodes. But The Cat in the Hat Know a Lot About That! won the day in this DVD collection, as he usually does! My boys have loved this show since it was first released and I have to admit, I’m a bit of a fan too. Who better to explain science to children than the energetic and irrepressible Cat in the Hat? Zackary has been learning about the solar system at school so he loved seeing the Cat explaining some of the things he’d been studying.
If you have a future scientist in your house, you’ll love this fabulous spring giveaway from NCircle Entertainment! One lucky Mommy Kat and Kids reader is going to win all three of these educational DVDs, a $35 value! To enter to win, just leave a blog comment about which of the three DVDs you think your child will want to watch first.
One of the things I love about NCircle Entertainment’s selection of DVDs is how many great educational choices the company has for children, and this collection of science-based titles is a great example of that. Pick up a few for your child this spring and let them learn more about the world around them and how it works!

Octonauts To the Gup-X
They love both but the Octonauts would win out! The Cat in The Hat.
Cat in the Hat and Octonauts are favourites around here but I think Sid would become the #1 if he saw it! (the shows are not on at times when we can catch them so we haven’t seen it yet)
