While I’m a woman with plenty of self-confidence today, in my teens I was painfully shy with no self-esteem.
It took many years of learning and growth to reach the point of recognizing my own self-worth and while the reward was worth every moment of that journey, it’s one that I can’t help but hope will be easier for the young girls in my life today.
Having strong, confident female role models can certainly help with that and Demi Lovato is the perfect example of a young woman that is using her talent to help those around her.
Recently, thanks to a partnership between Demi Lovato and the Always and Tampax Radiant collection, I had the chance to see Demi Lovato perform live in Saskatoon and while I knew there would be plenty of great music to enjoy, I didn’t know just how inspiring the event would be.
I took my sister and my young niece to the concert with me and from the moment we arrived, we were ready for fun.
The night started with a Meet & Greet with Demi Lovato herself, complete with fun paper firecrackers and chocolate for the kids. Then it was time to find our seats and enjoy the opening acts as we waited for Demi to make her appearance.
Of course, we also had to stop by the Always and Tampax #BeRadiant booth and take a few quick pictures too!
The opening performances were great, but it was when I heard Spencer West being introduced that I really got excited. I’ve seen Spencer speak twice in the past and I’m always moved and inspired to hear the story of how a man with no legs challenged himself to excel and eventually climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.
Then it was time for Demi to perform and just like Spencer, she had her own inspiring stories to tell. In between songs, she talked about her experience building a school in Kenya and how it had changed her view of the world forever.
She encouraged everyone at the concert to find their own passion and use it to create positive change in whatever way they could. I couldn’t help but come out of the concert wanting to make the world a better place.
To Demi Lovato, being radiant doesn’t just mean having confidence in yourself; it also means using that confidence to improve the lives of others.
And that’s a message that every woman can embrace. Find a cause that speaks to you, come up with a few simple ways you can help create positive change and spread your own radiance throughout the world. Together, we’ll make a difference!
