This sounds like an excellent reading program. Phonics is a practical way of teaching sounds and then putting sounds together. Reading is a very important skill to learn.
I well remember the time I went to talk to my 5th child’s teacher (also headmaster) I was worried since by Christmas he wasn’t reading as well as his siblings. He reassured me that all was well & my son was brilliant at Maths. Shortly before the summer break he called me in for a chat – surprise surprise, my son wasn’t reading as well as he should have been & now I’d have to teach him during the summer break.
