I’ve said many times in the past that I don’t much like the concept of a New Year’s Resolution.
I find that people tend to end up having an “all or nothing” attitude when they make resolutions, which results in many giving up completely at the first misstep.
However, I do think that the new year is a great time to set some goals for the coming months.
Knowing that success might not be immediate takes off the pressure and lets me move forward at my own pace, something that’s led to my accomplishing many of my goals over the years.
Recently, Special K surveyed Canadians to see how they felt about New Year’s Resolutions and the results showed that I’m not the only one that’s not a fan of the popular tradition.
In fact, according to participants, only 23% of Canadians have ever achieved a New Year’s Resolution. That’s not a very good success rate for any goal!
And almost half of the women surveyed had no motivation to complete a resolution at all.
The downside of these results is that if they leave us feeling like we shouldn’t even try, we can never grow as individuals.
That’s why my method of setting yearly goals has been such a successful one for me; it lets me strive to improve without putting too much pressure on myself.
And this year, Special K is challenging Canadians to do the same thing by joining a 2015 Revolution. The task is simple; set a revolutionary goal for yourself and spend the year working towards it.
Think big and think positive, then make a plan for ways that you can move towards success!
There are a few big goals that I’ve set for myself this year and I can’t wait to get started on them.
One of my biggest ones, in fact, is committing to a regular fitness routine. Because I eat well and walk while doing errands, I haven’t needed to put a whole lot of effort into staying in shape.
But now that I’m reaching my mid-thirties, I know that I need to be a little more proactive about keeping myself healthy.
Since weight training is going to be part of my new routine, I can’t wait to treat myself to a Special K Protein Bar afterwards.
This year, set your own major goal and share your success with the #2015Revolution hashtag to help inspire others. It doesn’t take a New Year’s Resolution to make amazing life changes!
