My parents separated when I was quite young, and after my dad remarried I didn’t see him very often throughout the year. But one day that my siblings and I always spent with our dad was Father’s Day, and it was always a day we enjoyed. Thinking about how much I’ve grown since those early celebrations on my dad’s acreage often make me think about how much older my dad is too. While he’s pretty healthy overall, he does have some issues that make me worry at times.
Luckily, there are a few things that men of any age can do to ensure optimal health, and lots of them are pretty easy! These four easy tips are ones that will help men on the road to good health for decades to come:
1) Drinking Green Tea
I must admit that I’m not really a fan of the taste of green tea, but its many health benefits make it worth drinking anyways! Regular consumption of green tea is said to boost immunity, act as an anti-inflammatory and increase metabolism. It’s even been shown to help improve memory!
2) Taking Probiotics
I’ve been a fan of probiotics for quite awhile now, and with good reason! Ensuring that the digestive system has plenty of good bacteria helps ensure proper digestion and good immunity. For the average man that indulges in the occasional all-you-can-eat wing night or pizza binge, probiotics are an ideal way to avoid stomach troubles.
3) Eating More Fibre
When it comes to nutrition, fibre is a multi-tasking superhero that everyone should want on their team. A diet high in fibre moderates inflammation, reduces blood pressure and lowers bad cholesterol. It can even help with weight loss! And getting more fibre can be as easy as adding a few tablespoons of ground flax or oat bran to a smoothie.
4) Getting More Coenzyme Q10
This antioxidant is found in every cell in the body and is especially important for maintaining heart health. But as we age, our ability to produce CoQ10 is reduced. Taking a daily CoQ10 supplement is an easy way to support healthy heart muscles and increase cellular energy.

Father’s Day is a great time to celebrate the special men in our lives but when the day is done, making sure that our dads, husbands, brothers and friends are eating well, exercising and getting the nutrients they need is just as important. After all, it’s the best way to make sure that there will be many more years of Father’s Day celebrations in the future!
