I use Borax to help neutralize smells from the water here, we have a high sulphur content in our water here which is pretty smelly so the borax naturalizes the smell
Treat stains before load
Have stain remover spray next to each laundry hamper in your house. That way things get sprayed before hand and soak in before you do the laundry.
My best tip is to treat stains when you it happens. Don’t wait till wash day.

Try to check for stains before washing and soak for a while in a stain remover product.
It saves me time to have the laundry sorted ahead of laundry day, we have two different hampers for lights & darks & one in the bathroom just for sheets & towels.
Sort clothes by colour and wash separately, especially whites.
