There are some children’s movies that I watch only because my boys want to see them, and there are others that get me just as excited as my kids. This year, of all the children’s movies coming to theatres, Disney’s The Jungle Book was the one I most couldn’t wait to see. In fact, if I hadn’t been able to find a good time to take my boys to the movie, I would have gone on my own. When we headed to the theatre, I was bouncing with excitement. And as soon as the movie started, I knew it had been worth the wait. Here’s a brief synopsis:
In an epic adventure directed by Jon Favreau, Mowgli, a man-cub raised in the jungle by a family of wolves, embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery when he’s forced to abandon the only home he’s ever known. Featuring an all-star voice cast including Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley and Scarlett Johansson, The Jungle Book is stunning.
What I loved so much about The Jungle Book was how visually gorgeous the movie was. Every landscape and environment overwhelmed me with its beauty, and it had me wishing I was Mowgli more than once as I watched him explore the depths of the jungle. The story follows the classic animated cartoon that so many of us know and love, but delved deeper into the story than the previous movie had done while still retaining a great sense of nostalgia. I enjoyed every minute and my boys were on pins and needles as they watched to see if Mowgli would find a way to escape from Shere Khan, the ravenous tiger.
The Jungle Book is available now on Blu-ray and DVD and with special features including behind-the-scenes features and the work that went into reimagining this classic tale, it’s a must-have for every Disney fan. If you saw the movie in theatres and loved it as much as I did, make sure to grab your copy now. And if you didn’t have the chance to see it yet, make sure you do! The story of the boy raised by wolves in the jungle has never been more captivating or more magical than it is in this Disney remake that’s perfect for the whole family.
