As a parent, I think there’s nothing better than introducing my children to something I once loved and seeing them embrace it with as much joy as I did. From classic movies to favourite books to tasty candy treats, I feel like I’m reliving a little of my own childhood every time I can share a piece of my youth with my boys.
That’s why I’m so excited about the Charlotte’s Web Limited Edition Gift Set I received to review. This set contains a copy of the original book and the 2006 live-action children’s movie on DVD, just in time for holiday gift giving. Here’s a brief synopsis of the story:
The classic story of loyalty, trust, and sacrifice comes to life in this live-action adaptation. Fern (Dakota Fanning) is one of only two living beings who sees that Wilbur is a special animal as she raises him, the runt of the litter, into a terrific and radiant pig. As Wilbur moves into a new barn, he begins a second profound friendship with the most unlikely of creatures – a spider named Charlotte – and their bond inspires the animals around them to come together as a family. When the word gets out that Wilbur’s days are numbered, it seems that only a miracle will save his life. A determined Charlotte – who sees miracles in the ordinary – spins words into her web in an effort to convince the farmer that Wilbur is “some pig” and worth saving.
I remember reading Charlotte’s Web together with my class when I was younger. And last year, Benjamin did the same thing. After, his class watched this very movie and Benjamin came home excited to describe the book and movie to me. I couldn’t help but grin when he admitted that the movie was good, but the book was better.
And whether your children have read the book and seen the movie, or are brand new to this classic story, this set makes a great Christmas gift. So, to get you started on holiday gift giving, one lucky Mommy Kat and Kids reader is going to win the Charlotte’s Web Limited Edition Gift Set, a value! To enter to win, just leave a blog comment about whether your children know the touching story yet or not.
Often, one of the best things about my boys discovering the same things I loved as a child is that it lets me experience them again as well. And that’s definitely true with this gift set! I was excited to surprise my son with it, but I also immediately borrowed the book for a day so that I could read through it again too. Find the gift set at Walmart and other select stores across Canada, and introduce your little ones to a story that’s been loved for generations.
It would be great to win the
Charlotte’s Web Limited Edition Gift Set.

my kids know and love Charlottes Web
My children all knew the story of Charlotte’s Web. Each night while they brushed their teeth I would read a chapter from a book. As long as they were brushing I would read. We alternated between Charlotte’s Web, Where The Red Fern Grows and The Incredible Journey, so they were reread many years over the years to them. I would love to share this with my grandchildren.
Not sure if my grandkids know the story but my son does.
My kids do know the Charlotte’s Web story, both from the book and the movie.
