Grill in Style this Summer with 10 Amazing BBQ Tips and Ozery’s OneBun®-Giveaway

May 22, 2015 by Kathryn 162 Comments

I am a huge fan of barbequing and once the weather is warm enough to eat outside, I’ll sometimes use the barbeque all week long. From chicken and steak to hot dogs and hamburgers, it’s a sure-to-please meal if it’s been on the grill!

But I’m not a fan of the big, doughy hamburger and hot dog buns and their high calorie count, so that’s why this year I’ve fallen in love with Ozery’s Pita Break! The company’s OneBun® flatbread buns are a lighter alternative to traditional buns and are free of artificial colours, flavours, additives and preservatives. To help you have an extra delicious barbeque season, Ozery’s Pita Break has ten great barbeque tips you’ll want to check out before you hit the grill!

Try Campfire Ham and Cheese Bread for an Easy Camping Lunch

My boys and I absolutely love going camping. From large excursions with the Scouts group to family getaways to nights in the backyard, if we’re under the stars cuddled up in a blanket around a crackling fire, we’re in our happy place.

And as with many other special things in life, one of our favourite things about camping is the food! Like most kids, my boys are never going to turn down classics like hot dogs and marshmallows.

But I love getting more creative with my campfire cooking and one of my all-time favourite ways to make easy camping meals is by using foil. I love the versatility of being able to cook up a foil packet containing all our favourite foods. And the minimal cleanup of the method is an added bonus!

There are some great recipe ideas for foil-wrapped easy camping meals on the Kraft What’s Cooking website; the Foil-Pack Taco Chicken Dinner looks sublime!

But I found that most of them were more dinner ideas and I wanted to make something more suitable for a camping lunch. And so my Campfire Ham and Cheese Bread was created! [Read more…]

I love cooking at any time of year but I have a special fondness in my heart for barbeque season. There’s nothing I love more than firing up the grill after a long winter and cooking up a delicious cedar-plank salmon, tender sauced ribs or a juicy steak. In fact, when the weather does get warm enough to barbeque, it’s sometimes the only cooking method I use for weeks at a time!

This year, Canadian Tire and Cuisinart have teamed up to help take barbequing to a whole new level with a new line of Cuisinart BBQ accessories available in Canadian Tire stores across Canada, perfect for creating gourmet dishes on your grill. Personally, I can’t wait to try this fabulous Salmon Asparagus & Grilled Pineapple recipe. My youngest son absolutely loves pineapple, so I know he’ll devour this tasty meal! [Read more…]

Summer Barbeque Fun with a Peanut-Sauced Ribs Recipe and Wet-Nap

May 5, 2014 by Kathryn 18 Comments

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Wet-Nap but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #showusyourmess http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

As soon as the snow melts, my boys and I start spending a lot more time outside in the back yard. And that means that I spend a lot more time cooking outside too. There’s nothing my family likes better than a meal cooked on the barbeque and so this weekend, we decided to welcome spring with our all-time favourite barbequed meal, Peanut-Sauced Ribs.

But ribs are messy, so first I headed to Walmart to pick up a box of Wet-Nap packettes. These handy little individually wrapped packages are an essential in our household because they’re so convenient. I keep them in the house for quick cleanups of sticky hands, in the car for those times when the boys can’t wash up properly and in my purse for all those other little emergencies a mom tends to encounter. And when we’re eating outside, Wet-Nap packettes are always on the table.

With the supplies I needed, I got busy cooking up the ribs. The secret to really good pork ribs is two-fold. First, splurging on back ribs, the meatiest variety of ribs available, is essential. Secondly, precooking the ribs ensures that they are deliciously tender and juicy. Just cut the ribs into two or three rib sections and boil them in a pot of water with about one tablespoon of salt added for 50-60 minutes before barbequing for the best ribs ever. [Read more…]

If you’re putting together a last-minute celebration this Canada Day, Walmart has everything you need for a fun and patriotic day on July 1 so that you can enjoy the long weekend without breaking the bank! Recently Walmart Canada sent me a special bag of Canada Day supplies and the entire fun-filled package cost less than $40!

I love the Canada-themed disposable tableware, which will add a great patriotic touch to our Canada Day barbeque and save on clean up afterwards. I also enjoy the low prices of the Our Finest food items. With chips, mocktails and barbeque sauce all featuring prices under three dollars, we’ll be ready to enjoy some burgers and snacks outside!
