Let Go of the Mom Guilt! Four Indulgences a Mom Should Never Feel Guilty About

September 27, 2016 by Kathryn 34 Comments

If there’s one thing that us moms have really mastered, it’s feeling guilty. Told your daughter you were out of ice cream so you could finish it when she went to bed? Convinced your son that hockey wasn’t that much fun so you wouldn’t have to deal with the huge investment of time and money? Invented a fake work trip to avoid taking part in the school fundraiser? Chances are you’re going to feel guilty about it at some point!

But the fact of the matter is that parenting is hard…and none of us are perfect! We’re going to mess up. We’re going to do things we regret. And sometimes, we’re going to feel guilty about something we really shouldn’t! There are the odd times that we feel we’ve really messed up. At those times, we need to apologize, forgive ourselves and move on. But there are also times we feel guilty and we really shouldn’t! If you’ve got Mom Guilt about any of these four things, it’s time to give yourself a break and #EndMomGuilt!

1) Going Out for Date Night

Date night isn’t just a fun night out for you and your husband, it’s a chance to stay connected as a couple and ensure a healthy relationship…something that will both benefit your kids right now and help them learn about the dynamic of a healthy relationship. Find a reliable sitter or a nearby family member, take off for the evening and enjoy a good meal, a movie WITHOUT animated characters or a few drinks at your favourite pub. You both deserve the chance to spend time with the love of your life! [Read more…]

New McDonald’s Create Your Taste Lets You Create the Ultimate Burger

August 22, 2016 by Kathryn 21 Comments

Visiting a McDonald’s restaurant has been a treat for me ever since I was a child. But over the years, the company has really evolved from a kid’s haven to a place where I can relax, unwind and indulge a little. From the specialty coffee drinks to the expanded gourmet menu, going to McDonald’s isn’t just for Big Mac and Chicken Nugget fans anymore. And that’s because the company is always listening to what its customers want.

I love the constantly expanding menu currently offered at McDonald’s, but now the company is taking customer satisfaction to new heights with the fantastic Create Your Taste experience, available at select McDonald’s locations across Canada! The Create Your Taste service has just been rolled out in Saskatchewan and last week I had the chance to try it out for myself and see just how it worked.

Improving My Health Naturally With a FitTea Review

June 23, 2015 by Kathryn 13 Comments

While I’m pretty happy with my body overall, I’m always interested in finding new ways to tone up a little more, burn extra fat and improve my general health. And when I can find an easy and fun way to do that, I’m even happier. I’d heard of FitTea products before and I always thought the company’s tagline “Give us a few weeks and we’ll give you a new waistline” sounded intriguing. An all-natural tea that helped promote fat burning and boost immunity sounded like a dream come true to me and since there’s nothing I love more than a soothing cup of tea, I couldn’t help but want to give the product a try. Recently I had the chance to do just that with a FitTea review about how this tea worked for me.

Initially I thought that the FitTea I had been sent was a loose-leaf product, but when I opened the bag I realized it was even better. Traditional tea bags just aren’t the best choice for extracting the maximum flavour and health benefits from tea leaves and while loose-leaf tea is delicious, it’s also a little fussy to make since having a tea ball at the ready is a must. FitTea solves the problem by using large silk pouches, keeping the tea in its proper loose leaf form and allowing proper steeping while still being quick and simple to use. For those that prefer the traditional method, however, a loose-leaf variety is also available. [Read more…]

Pledge to Snack Healthy in 2014 with Taste of Nature Food Bars

January 24, 2014 by Kathryn 266 Comments

For the most part, I eat fairly healthy. I love fruits and vegetables, eat plenty of lean protein and healthy fats and limit heavily processed foods. But I do have a few weaknesses and one is chocolate. I have a bad habit of reacting to that dreaded afternoon slump by immediately reaching for a few of my very favourite chocolates and a cup of coffee in an attempt to perk myself up. Of course, it’s a very temporary fix and by early evening I’m usually battling exhaustion again.

But Taste of Nature wants to change all that for me by asking Canadians to Take the Pledge to Snack Healthy in 2014! In a recent survey conducted by Taste of Nature, almost half of Canadians felt that replacing one snack per day with a healthy alternative was a manageable way to live a healthier lifestyle. But nearly three-quarters of those surveyed said that great taste was essential for satisfying a snack craving. That’s why Taste of Nature bars are the perfect solution! [Read more…]

Edmonton, Alberta-The City of Festivals

August 14, 2013 by Kathryn 13 Comments

Edmonton is a vibrant city with a rich history and plenty of attractions for families, but one of the things that makes Edmonton an especially attractive family destination is its many events and festivals. Recently I visited the city to experience some of those special events for myself and I was lucky enough to attend not just one but two of the city’s top summer festivals.

Foodie Indulgence at Taste of Edmonton

Taste of Edmonton is the city’s yearly celebration of the many fabulous restaurants and food trucks in Edmonton. The festival runs for ten days and patrons can purchase food tickets for the event in advance. While Taste of Edmonton features free admission and entertainment, tickets are purchased and traded to sample the delectable fare offered.
